“We have a really good team, and I think we have the right guy leading us and the right pieces that we added to complement our team last year,” said 3rd baseman Kris Bryant, last year’s NL Rookie of the Year. “It’s going to be a whole lot of fun this year. I’m excited about what we can do. Everyone on this team feels that way.

“There is a target on our back now;” manager Joe Madden said. “People think we’re the team to beat. It’s like I told our guys on the first day of spring — embrace the target. Be glad that we have the kind of team that people expect big things from.”

The Cubs will resume Spring Training with games against the Reds, Rangers and Giants coming up next.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and be a part of the action!

Cubs looking to sweep Pirates

The Chicago Cubs have been on a little bit of a roll as of late, beating the Reds in two games and matching the same against the Pirates with a chance to sweep tonight at home.

The 6-2 win last night was the 4th straight win for the Cubs and were led by Dexter Fowler and Travis Wood as the Cubbies scored six runs while sitting on two outs.

“I love two-out runs,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. “They really hurt the other side badly. Conversely, when it happens to you, you’re constantly [thinking], ‘Can we make a better pitch right there? Did we call the right pitch right there? Did we execute the pitch right there?’ The two-strike knocks can really bum you out a little bit. When you get them, there’s nothing more glorious than that.”

The Cubs have the opportunity to sweep the Pirates tonight at 7:05. Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get out to the ballpark and support your Chicago Cubs.
